Barcelona are all set to welcome their bitter rival Real Madrid for the 1st leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final at Camp Nou tonight. Will Los Blancos pull off an upset against the Blaugrana tonight? It seems unlikely to happen because defeating Ernesto Valverde’s side away from home is next to impossible.

The two sides have a long history and the battle among these two have always been a melody to the eyes. This will be second El Clasico of the 2018-19 campaign. The first one took place in October in which Barcelona thrashed Madrid 5-1 at the Camp Nou.

Nevertheless, that side of Los Blancos wasn’t in good touch and things have changed a lot since Santiago Solari has taken the reign from Julen Lopetegui.

The Santiago Bernabeu outfit have won their last five games in all competitions. The last win for Madrid came against Alaves in La Liga.

Barcelona, on the other hand, have struggled to keep a clean sheet but their attackers have been phenomenal and played a major role in their wins. The Camp Nou outfit will step in this game after playing a draw against Valencia in La Liga. This was the first time that the Blaugrana failed to win a league game since the end of November.

Although Real Madrid have a mind-blowing history in all the competitions, they have struggled to win domestic trophies. The last time Los Blancos got their hands on the Copa del Rey trophy was back in 2014 when they defeated Barcelona 2-1 in the final. While the Blaugrana have won the last four editions of the Copa del Rey.

In the last Copa del Rey fixture, Barcelona lost to Sevilla 2-0 in an away game but then registered a thumping 6-1 victory in the second leg to enter the semi-final. While Real Madrid defeated Girona with a 7-3 aggregate.

Injury Update

Rafinha, Samuel Umtiti and Jasper Cillessen are going to be absent from this fixture due to the injury. While Lionel Messi might start on the bench after sustaining a thigh injury in the last league game against Valencia.

As for Real Madrid, Jesús Vallejo is the only player injured and has not traveled to Barcelona with the team.
