Atletico Madrid are all set to host the favorites to win the Champions League, Juventus, in the 1st leg of the round of 16 at Wanda Metropolitano tonight.
In the group stage of the Champions League this season, Juventus finished on top of their group but suffered two defeats. While Atletico finished in second place in their respective group.
The Old Lady are entering this game with being undefeated in the Serie A so far. While Los Rojiblancos are on the second position with seven points off the league leaders, Barcelona, in La Liga.
This is one of the most awaited fixtures of a round of 16 as two of the solid defensive line will battle each other to make it to the quarter-final.
It is not going to be an easy run for the Old Lady as Atletico have won their last eight European games and are undefeated in last 12 fixtures. Nevertheless, records are meant to be broken and Juventus will step on the pitch with the same motive.
Even Massimiliano Allegri has shared the same opinion, the Juventus manager told a pre-match press conference. “I wouldn’t take a draw now, in fact, I said to the lads that it’s important to score a goal, although two would be better”
This statement of Allegri has made it clear that Juventus will play with full attacking instincts tonight. While Atletico will try to defend as they would not like to give their opponent an advantage for the second leg.
Lucas Hernandez will miss this encounter due to injury. The another Atletico player to join him will be Diego Costa, who returned on the weekend but Simeone has suggested that he is not fully fit for this fixture.
As for Juventus, Sami Khedira and Juan Cuadrado are the two players, who haven’t traveled with the team to Spain.
