Chelsea are all set to host Manchester United in the 5th round of FA Cup tonight at Stamford Bridge. Will Solskjaer’s side provide a big upset to the Blues? Well, you never know because the current United squad is always up for the big task.
The last few weeks for the two sides haven’t been perfect. Chelsea lost to Bournemouth 4-0 and then thrashed Huddersfield 5-0 following with a 6-0 away defeat against Manchester City.
United, on the other side, lost their first game out of 12 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season. This defeat against PSG in the Champions League was a reality check for the Red Devils. As now they know where they stand against the big European clubs.
This is a big game for both the sides because they have already lost the chance of winning the Premier League this season. Over that United faced a 2-0 home defeat and it is almost impossible to make a comeback in the second leg against PSG. So, winning FA Cup is the only goal that Solskjaer should have currently
As for Chelsea apart from FA Cup, they still have a good chance of winning the Europa League. However, the inclusion of Napoli and Internazionale has increased the competition.
This is the second real test for United before they reach their final task of this month, where they will face Liverpool in the Premier League.
Maurizio Sarri is under huge pressure as he might get sacked due to the ongoing issues with the players. Also, the Blues are not performing on the pitch, which is the prime reason that might lead to his departure from the club. So, winning this fixture is quite important for both Sarri and his players.
As for Chelsea, there is not a big injury issue. Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Gary Cahill and Daniel Drinkwater are doubtful for this crucial encounter.
United, on the other hand, have traveled to Stamford Bridge without Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard. Both acquired muscle injury during the game against PSG. Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian and Alexis Sanchez will join their other two teammates outside the pitch.
