The first UEFA Champions League Semi-final will be played between Liverpool F.C. and A.S. Roma at Anfield on Tuesday. The Reds qualified for the semi-finals after defeating Manchester City with the aggregate of 5-1. On the other hand, the Giallorossi completed a stunning comeback by defeating perennial favorites, FC Barcelona on away goal. Eusebio De Francesco managed his side to their first Champions League semi-final in 34 years.
Liverpool has performed quite brilliantly this season, be it in the Premier League or the Champions League. The attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah all together has scored 83 goals which is one of the major reasons why they’ll be playing in the semi-finals of the UCL. Although the Merseyside club’s defence isn’t the strongest, they’ve still kept 20 clean sheets across all competitions this season.
After, losing the League title to Manchester City and failing to win the FA Cup, Jurgen Klopp will be looking to win the Champions League which would add a measure of success to an already impressive season. Impressive, considering that their previous campaigns under the former Dortmund manager have been a bit underwhelming. But it won’t be easy for the Anfield side as they are up against a spirited Roma side. The Giallorossi showed exemplary grit and passion in overturning a 4-1 deficit to the Catalans. It will be fair to say that Klopp’s side will have their work cut out.
