Manchester United is all set to travel to Anfield with a motive of ending the unbeaten league streak of Liverpool in the current season.

This battle is not some random encounter between average sides. This is one of the most ferocious battles that have been going on since the inception of the Premier League. The two sides have always fought hard against each other just to prove that they are the better side among the two.

Manchester City clinched a 3-1 win over Everton last night and that has put them back on top of the Premier League points table. Also, with Liverpool playing against United tonight, it seems that maybe the Reds will get back on top, but it won’t be easy.

The hosts are in phenomenal form as they are the only Premier League side that is undefeated in this season. Manchester United, on the other hand, are struggling a lot and many people are terming it as Mourinho’s third season breakdown. The visitors are currently in a 6th position with eight points less than the fourth positioned Chelsea and 16 points less than 2nd positioned Liverpool.

The Red Devils are struggling in all the aspects. They are not only finding it hard to score goals but their defense has also been quite prone to goals. The Old Trafford Outfit have scored 28 goals but have also conceded 26 goals. This shows that how substandard back line it has been, and nothing can be done about it because the players are only responsible for it.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have scored 34 goals but have conceded only six and that’s one of the reasons, why they are undefeated currently.

Moreover, the Reds are undefeated in their last 28 Premier League home games with 11 clean sheets in last 12 home fixtures. However, they haven’t won a single encounter out of their last eight meetings against the Red Devils.

After considering everything, it seems that Liverpool will be the better side. However, you never know what Jose Mourinho and his players come up with in order to hand the Reds their first league defeat.

Injury Update

The two sides have quite a few big names missing from this enthralling battle. As for the hosts, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain is a long-term absentee and there is still no confirmation about his return.

Moreover, the win over Napoli in the mid-week fixture did put Liverpool in the round of 16. However, it came at the expense of Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who are going to be absent for 6 and 2 weeks respectively. Also, Joe Gomez is the fourth player that is going to join these three players outside the stadium.

Manchester United, on the other hand, will be stepping out on the pitch without Victor Lindelof, Marcos Rojo, and Alexis Sanchez. Diogo Dalot might get a chance in the starting XI tonight but that still depends whether Luke Shaw is fully fit or not for tonight.
