Manchester City are all set to welcome Chelsea at Etihad Stadium tonight. In order to take the revenge from the blues of ending their undefeated streak back in December.
This is going to be a great contest as both the sides are desperate for a win tonight. Because a win today will get Chelsea back to fourth place while the Citizens will become league leaders again.
The Citizens reached the top of the table after defeating Everton in the mid-week fixture. However, Liverpool had a game in hand, and after defeating Bournemouth last night they reached the top of the table.
Chelsea, on the other hand, slipped to fifth place after Manchester United defeated Fulham last night to reach the Champions League qualification spot. The Blues are just one point behind United and a win or a draw tonight will get them back to the fourth position.
In the last week fixture, Chelsea defeated Huddersfield 5-0 while City defeated Arsenal 3-1 following a 2-0 victory against Everton.
The Citizens got back to winning ways after winning both their last fixtures. While Chelsea are inconsistent as they lost to Bournemouth 4-0 and won their next fixture with a difference of five goals.
There is lots of tension going on in the Chelsea camp as once again the Blues are having issues with their manager. The Italian coach, Maurizio Sarri joined the Blues this season itself and perfectly gelled with players in the starting of the current season. However, after a defeat against Arsenal, Sarri opened to the press and told about the issues going on with few players.
Manchester City, on the other hand, are finally getting back their form and many people are predicting them as the league winners. Because the Reds have lost quite a few opportunities in the last few games and are just three points above the Citizens.
Moreover, the backline is finally gelling up and conceding less goal. Even the strikers are bonding quite well from the last few games.
Tonight’s result will determine, which team has successfully overcome their problems and will finish on a better position in the league this season.
Manchester City will once again be without Vincent Kompany and Claudio Bravo. Also, Benjamin Mendy is sidelined for this fixture due to his knee injury.
As for Chelsea, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Gary Cahill are doubtful for this fixture as the Englishman is suffering from fever while latter has a minor back injury.
