It is a do or die situation for both Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool tonight. The two clubs are going to face each other in a crucial fixture that will decide their future in this season’s Champions League.
Both the clubs met each other in group stage game earlier this season at Anfield. The Parisians were about to clinch a point from the game, but Roberto Firmino last-gasp strike ended the game at 3-2.
Napoli are currently leading the group with six points and are going to face Red Star Belgrade tonight. Liverpool are in the second position with six points as well while PSG are in the third position with five points. The Serbian club is in the last position with four points and they will have a chance tonight to create an upset by defeating the Italian club.
In the last Champions League game, Liverpool faced a shocking 2-0 defeat against Red Star Belgrade while PSG drew 1-1 at home of Napoli. These two games made the group quite interesting and now the qualification of two teams from Group C depends clearly on the result of tonight’s games.
The Reds defeated Watford 3-0 in their last Premier League game while the Parisians defeated Toulouse 1-0 in the absence of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, who were sidelined due to injury.
However, Thomas Tuchel confirmed in the afternoon today that both Mbappe and Neymar are fit to face Liverpool in a must-win game for the qualification to the knock-out stage.
As for PSG Colin Dagba, Stanley N’Soki and Jese are side-lined from this game due to injury. Dani Alves did make an appearance in the last Ligue 1 game of PSG but looking at the importance of today’s game. It seems that the Brazilian will start on the bench against the Reds.
Liverpool, on the other hand, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain is the only long-term injured player, who is going to be absent from this game. Sadio Mane has been passed fit and will make it to the starting XI against PSG tonight.
