Sergio Aguero scored a hat-trick as Manchester City went on to thrash Chelsea 6-0 at the Etihad Stadium last night. With this win, the Citizens also returned to the top of the Premier League.

Liverpool earlier defeated Bournemouth 3-0 and removed the Citizens from the top. However, this could only last for few hours as the Reds slipped back to the second position with a game in hand.

In our prediction, we suggested that City will score a couple of goals and the Blues will get one goal back. Nevertheless, our prediction completely vanished. As the Citizens ran a riot against Chelsea and took revenge of defeat, which ended their unbeaten run this season.

The Citizens started the proceedings of the game. In the 4th minute, Kevin de Bruyne played a straight pass to Bernardo Silva from a set piece. The Portuguese controlled the ball and made a perfect cross to the center of the box. The ball went past all the Chelsea defenders and found Raheem Sterling.

The winger without making any mistake fired the ball at the back of the net and got his side in front early in the game. Moreover, this was Sterling’s 60th Premier League goal with half of them being scored in his last 59 appearances while the starting 30 came in 157 appearances.

This was just the starting of a nightmare for Chelsea. In the 13th minute, Sergio Aguero cut the ball towards his right and fired a shot from 25 yards, which ended in the far top corner. This goal was compensation for the mistake which the Argentine made a few minutes back. In which, he missed a sitter from two yards away from a goal post.

Nevertheless, it was Aguero’s day as he went on to score his second goal from the six-yard-box. This time David Luiz cleared a chip pass of De Bruyne. However, Ross Barkley returned the ball back to the box with a header. The Argentine was present at the perfect position as he half-volleyed the ball into the back of the net.

The Citizens scored their fourth goal and this time Ilkay Gundogan got his name on the scoresheet. The German midfielder launched a phenomenal shot from the edge of the box that went past Kepa Arrizabalaga into the back of the net. The Blues were 4-0 down and we were just 45 minutes into the game.

In the second-half, City scored two more goals. One goal came from the spot kick as Aguero completed his second hat-trick in last three games. While the last goal of the game came from the feet of Sterling, who ended the game with one assist and a brace.
