Chelsea is all set to make a trip to Molineux as they face Wolves in their 15th Premier League game this season.
The two sides had a great start to the current season, but both the sides suddenly look a bit out of their original touch. Wolves performed tremendously in the EFL Championship last season and that helped them in coming to Premier League. The Wanderers continued their great performance in Division 1 but lost the track from last seven games.
The Blues, on the other hand, didn’t have a great Premier League season last year and that led to the sacking of Antonio Conte. Also, Maurizio Sarri was appointed as new coach and many people predicted that it’s a huge gamble from the Blues. Nonetheless, this gamble of Chelsea turned out positive as they faced their first defeat in their 13th league game against Tottenham Hotspur.
In the last week fixture, Wolves lost to Cardiff City 2-1 while Chelsea won against Fulham 2-0. This defeat of the Wanderers got them to the 13th position in the points table and Chelsea returned to the third position with 10 points less than the leaders Manchester City.
This will be the 106th meeting between these two clubs. There is not a lot of difference in the wins as Chelsea have emerged victorious on 41 occasions while Wolves won 38 encounters. The rest of the 26 fixtures between these sides ended in a draw.
Moreover, the Blues have won nine out of their last 10 encounters against the Wanderers in all competitions. Along with that, Chelsea have also kept a clean sheet in their last six out of eight games against Wolves in all competitions.
All these stats and current form of the two sides suggests us that the Blues will have an upper hand in this game. However, it is Premier League where anything can happen to the best of the sides. So, I would suggest that you be ready for a thrilling encounter.
Jonny will be out of this fixture and is expected to be out for another month due to a knee injury. Ruben Neves will join his teammate outside this game as he has received five yellow cards which led to his suspension from this game.
As for Chelsea, Ross Barkley might sit out of this fixture as he is still suffering from an injury that kept him out of the last fixture against Fulham. Victor Moses is another player, who might miss this game due to injury issues.
