The midfielders have always played a pivotal role in creating scoring chances. The first midfielder, who has been phenomenal and important in changing his club’s performance is Christian Eriksen. The Spurs midfielder has scored four goals and provided seven assists in his 18 League appearances this season. This performance of Eriksen has helped his side in making it to the second spot in the points table. He has provided consistent support from the midfield and it is because of him that Spurs are winning games by such good margins.
On the other side of the midfield, we have Gylfi Sigurdsson. Although Everton are placed on the 11th position in the league points table, we can’t avoid the contribution of Sigurdsson from the midfield. The Icelandic midfielder has scored eight goals along with providing three assists in his 21 appearances this season. His and Richarlison’s performances have helped the Toffees in offsetting the goals that their defense concedes on regular basis.
The midfield is not only about good attacking and creating scoring chances. There is much more to it and defending is one of those important skills that create a lot of difference. The last man to complete our midfield is Fernandinho. The Brazilian defender has provided constant support to his defense. Moreover, he took complete responsibility of midfield in his hands. Also, he is one of the reasons, why Kevin de Bruyne and other midfielders get a chance of going ahead and scoring. Fernandinho’s performance against Manchester United was worth remembering. The City midfielder controlled the full game from midfield and gave no scoring chances to United strikers.
